Blogs and Busineses
Lets face it, blogs are the hottest thing on the internet and it makes sense why. People like reading genuine information. Blogs are a way for people like you and me to share information and knowledge, as opposed to websites simply selling products or services. It is because of this that blog readers are more willing to absorb information and view information they read as credible. Personally I would much rather read about a person's experience with a product before I buy it compared to visiting the manufacturers website to see what they have to say about it.
So, I get a lot of people who call and email me asking about ways they can increase their website traffic, or how they too can be listed at the top of Google's search results for keywords like "Real Estate". Here are some of the suggestions I give them.
- start a blog about your profession
- promote your site and blog to friends, family, and co-workers
- just keep writing about your profession and related topics
Most people respond with "what is a blog?" but since you already know I'll skip right to why you should be blogging and how it can help you do more/better business.
Professions where a blog can help your business:
- Real Estate
- Chef or Restaurant
- Web Consulting
- Construction / Contractors
- Auto Restoration (More so for specialty car work etc.)
- Computer Repair
- Stock Broker
Blogs can give more relavent information than most corporate websites, and it is 99% of the time more up to date and current. By constantly updating a blog with relavant information you will allow people to use you as a source, and when they decide to make a purchase or hire someone, the first person they will turn to is the "expert" how knows about everything. In the blog reader's eye, you are the expert. Because you are the one keeping them up to date with the field, they respect you.
The list continues... This is just one of the many different ways someone can get their name out and build their personal brand. Look back soon for a how to get started blogging article.
